Since Brothers at War launched in 2013, [brothers] Sam and Angus Wardlaw have established themselves among the Barossa's most exciting new-wave producers.

Farming their family's Pendee Farm in Eden Valley, alongside fruit from some of the region's most celebrated old-vine vineyards, they've earned widespread acclaim since, including Halliday's Best Grenache of the Year and a 99-point review (2018 vintage).

Their father, David Wardlaw, helped shape modern Barossa winemaking, and his influence remains at the core of the brothers‘ work. David worked alongside such greats as Peter Lehmann, John Vickery, Jim Irvine and Wolf Blass, helping establish the Barossa that we know today.

Their approach is simple: great vineyards first. Old, dry-grown vines from Pendee Farm and other equally iconic Barossa sites form the foundation, and while the winemaking remains measured and thoughtful, preserving the character of each site (rather than imposing itself upon it) is paramount.

The result is unmistakably Barossa, but with a freshness and restraint that sets these wines apart from what we deem as more typical of the region... put simply, these wines are some of the most exciting we've seen from the region in recent times.
